Founded in 2009, CadoMaestro was born from a simple observation: finding a gift idea is not always easy. Sixteen years later, the need remains the same but the offering has grown considerably now featuring a selection of original and personalized products with more than 3,000 items—50% of them customizable.
The company started in a small apartment where Sylvain Bruyère and his partner shared responsibilities: he managed the e-commerce side and she handled the physical store. What began as a couple’s dynamic soon became a growing business project. Four relocations later—each time to gain more space and meet growing demand—CadoMaestro now has 16 team members. The company continues to expand with other brands (Lixi and Opari) all connected to the original structure.
With a turnover of €3M excl. VAT CadoMaestro is a true success story emblematic of the entrepreneurial ventures made possible by the PrestaShop ecosystem.
We had already interviewed Sylvain a few years ago. Since then his business has evolved significantly as has his use of Store Commander which is now fully integrated into a multistore organization. It was the perfect time to catch up with him about his concrete uses of the tool and the benefits it brings to his daily operations.
How long have you been using Store Commander and how did you discover it?
We’ve used Store Commander at different times.
First on our main site CadoMaestro.com as well as on a second PrestaShop dedicated to professional clients (https://pro.cadomaestro.com/) back in the early days of Store Commander before the subscription-based model.
Around 2016 we moved to an ERP (Odoo) to centralize management. Then in 2023 aiming to simplify our IT system we left the ERP behind and adopted more modular solutions (accounting, purchasing, logistics…). That’s when we came back to Store Commander using the multistore plan since June 2024.
I discovered Store Commander a long time ago as the tool quickly became a go-to in the ecosystem for e-merchants. It saves a huge amount of time in catalog management and many essential features have been added over the years.
What were your main needs or challenges when you first chose Store Commander?
The main challenge was to be able to edit products quickly and in bulk. For example when creating a new category or adding an accessory we had to go back over many product sheets. Store Commander was a tremendous help in handling these tasks efficiently. The same went for updating SKUs.
Which features do you use the most today?
Today Store Commander is used daily across several departments:
Store Commander now supports you in a multistore setup. Can you tell us more?
Indeed we switched to a multistore setup in 2024 launching our German version (https://www.cadomaestro.de/) as a fully independent store with its own products.
More recently we merged our promotional products store (https://pro.cadomaestro.com/) which had been on a separate PrestaShop. The goal: to pool development and tools like Store Commander.
In this context Store Commander has become more indispensable than ever. It enables us to perform very precise actions (such as editing a product’s publication date) quickly and smoothly—something that would be very difficult to manage otherwise with PrestaShop.
How has Store Commander helped you improve your organization or gain efficiency?
When we left the ERP in 2023 we knew certain tasks would be challenging with PrestaShop alone. Some of the team members hadn’t even worked in the PrestaShop back office before.
We needed our new system to allow everyone to save time immediately while being more flexible in the long run.
And that’s exactly what happened with Store Commander:
The result: the team can focus on higher value-added tasks.
In your opinion what is Store Commander’s main strength today?
With three stores—CadoMaestro, Lixi and Opari—managed from a single PrestaShop in multistore mode, a catalog of 3,000 products (50% customizable) and an annual turnover of €3M excl. VAT the CadoMaestro team has built a strong organization tailored to the challenges of modern e-commerce.
For Sylvain Bruyère Store Commander remains a central tool synonymous with time savings and simplicity in day-to-day management. He recommends the solution to any merchant wishing to optimize their store also advising them to attend a few webinars to get a proper handle on the tool and to test its features in a pre-production environment to unlock its full potential.
At Store Commander we are proud to have supported the growth of merchants like CadoMaestro for many years.
